St John NSW volunteers and staff worked in our communities, workplaces, and homes to ensure people are safe. St John NSW was there when needed. We have the skills, training, and equipment to save a life.
Safety is about inspiring community confidence. St John NSW volunteers and staff work in our communities, workplaces, and homes to ensure people’s safety. We are there to keep people safe at music and sporting events, and wherever first aid is needed.
We know in an emergency it can take between 10 and 20 minutes for an ambulance to arrive. Until then St John NSW is there. Did you know over one third of the people we treat have avoided the need to go to hospital?
In January 2021 we launched the Buy One, Give One Face Mask campaign to help provide face masks to people experiencing homelessness. For every box purchased, St John NSW agreed to donate a box to a community group in need, including homeless shelters and food banks.
The COVID-19 pandemic changed life for us all, but especially for people who do not have the financial means to protect themselves from the pandemic, with little to no access to personal protective equipment, no homes to self-isolate in and many pre-existing health conditions that put them at risk.
The campaign enabled us to donate close to 10,000 masks to charities who help vulnerable communities throughout NSW.
Our onsite healthcare professional team deployed Responders, Nurses, Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics to critical locations, with a focus on providing rapid support in the event of illness or trauma.
This included temperature screening for commercial clients, medical coverage at Sydney Train stations, support at Local Health Districts across NSW, and significant support for NSW Health throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the community learnt to live with COVID, we played a key part in the provision of COVID-19 Rapid Antigen testing products and services.
We provided supervised Rapid Antigen Screening to clients including the Rural Fire Service, SES, NSW Ambulance, and the Department of Planning and Environment. These services helped to provide employee confidence, ensured business continuity, and mitigated the risk of workplace shutdowns.
"Our staff have expressed their confidence in coming back to work knowing they are operating in a safe and secure environment - and not putting their work mates or own families at risk."

CEO of Premium Fulfilment Services
As always, our aim is to increase the number of publicly accessible defibrillators with the goal of a defibrillator being available in every venue across the state. In 2021 we launched the first St John-branded defibrillator at Government House in Canberra, with His Excellency, General the Hon. David Hurley, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia and Her Excellency, Mrs Linda Hurley. Ten new defibrillators were also donated to community organisations – enabling them to be better prepared in the event of an emergency.
In 2021 alone over 1,100 of these lifesaving devices were installed in workplaces, community venues and public spaces across NSW.
In 2021, our team:

Throughout the uncertainty of the pandemic, our Field Sales and Service team were on the frontline providing vital first aid workplace services in metropolitan and regional areas of NSW and ensuring our customers remained compliant and safe.
We provided first aid, medical and mental health services at events including the Big Bash League, The Bloody Long Walk, New Year’s Eve and more.
In 2021 we were able to provide essential community medical and COVID-19 safety services to keep staff and patrons safe at both major and community events across the state.
